Maroon Comb Study (Hot-Comb 4 Delores)

view Maroon Comb Study (Hot-Comb 4 Delores) digital asset number 1
LaGrone, Roy, Jr., 1966-
Iris print on Somerset paper
National Origin:
Roy LaGrone (1966-) considers the collage, computer technology, and improvised
forms integral to his two- and threedimensional works. Many of the themes
are traditional, however, LaGrone employs the latest techniques to fashion his unique offerings. Maroon Comb Study (Hot-Comb 4 Delores), pays tribute to a functional artifact of the Black Diaspora, a comb made by the Maroons of Suriname. The work also represents the guiding influence of his mother, Delores, who works as a beautician. His latest animated shorts reflect his growing interest in digital photography and serve to engage and move the senses to new heights.
