Dots and Stripes Fornever

view Dots and Stripes Fornever digital asset number 1
Bland, Erlena Chisolm
Acrylic paint on wood, metal.
National Origin:
Wall Sculpture
This painting makes reference to patriotic symbolism, and Bland embellishes the work by using orange stripes in combination with nontraditional dots. In keeping with the spirit of celebration, she has cut the forms to suggest a rocket.
Bland states, "Creating art gives me the deepest joy one can ever imagine, and this can be matched only by the pleasure the viewer receives. Creativity resides in the quality of the mind. It originates from my diverse ethnic background and my love of color and shape. These abstract compositions express the underlying spirituality of my being."
