John Tarrell Scott (1940-2007) is an artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is most known for his large woodcuts and kinetic sculpture pieces. His work often focus on African, African-American, Caribbean and Creole cultures. His art is influenced by the blues and jazz musical traditions, as seen in this woodblock print.
Samella Lewis was born on February 27, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an accomplished artist and art historian. Her medium of choice is primarily printmaking that emphasizes her African American heritage.
