Description:
St. John CME Church Collection consists of an altar rail which was removed from St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (Washington, D.C.) during the sanctuary renovation in 1996. The rail was removed from the Fellowship Hall, and said to have been part of the original furnishing. The building underwent two major renovations, one in 1976, and one in 1996.
Reverend Weldon G. Thomas was the pastor of St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church from 1986 to 2000 (?) and donor of the altar rail to the Anacostia Community Museum.
