Interviewee Steven H. Oliver (1941- ) is an art collector and patron in Richmond, California. Interviewer Mija Riedel (1958- ) is an independent scholar in San Francisco, California. Oliver was the Board Chair of the California College of the Arts, 1983-1987, during Frey's tenure, and is currently the president of Oliver & Company, a construction and development company, in Richmond, California.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
