An interview of Robert Moskowitz conducted 2010 Apr. 26 and 27, by Judith Olch Richards, for the Archives of American Art, at the Moskowitz's home and studio in New York, N.Y.
Moskowitz speaks of his childhood in Brooklyn, New York; his training as a technical illustrator; time with Adolph Gottlieb's class at the Pratt Institute; a year abroad in England; his shift from his corner pictures to focusing on architectural objects such as the Empire State Building and the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center; his marriage to artist Hermine Ford; gallery relationships with Blum Helman, Lawrence Markey, Nancy Hoffman, Morgo Leavin, and Daniel Weinberg ; Moskowitz also recalls Leo Castelli, Ivan Karp, Henry Geldzahler, Walker Evans, Alexander Liberman, Richard Marshall, Gwyther Irwin, and Jack Tworkov.

Biography Note:
Interviewee Robert Moskowitz (1935- ) is a minimalist painter in New York, N.Y. Interviewer Judith Olch Richards (1947- ) is former Executive director of iCI in New York, N.Y.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
