Identification on verso (handwritten): This paste up of Jack Heinz's suite was a typical presentation made for plans or in models. It was extraordinary how small swatches of fabrics and wood could convey a feeling of the space. The general scale used was 1/4" but in special plans we worked in larger scale. I always felt the need to employ this system that eventually was used by design offices as a standard. I actually started to do this at the Architectural Association in London and developed it further when the planning unit was formned at Knoll.
