Shows Pollock bent on one knee leaning over a painting on the floor of his barn studio in Springs, N.Y.
Photo was previously attributed to Wilfrid Zogbaum. Attribution to Herbert Matter and date of photograph are based on information from art historian Ellen Landau, who found this image on a contact sheet of photos by Matter (see: Landau, Ellen G., Sidney Mishkin Gallery, Guild Hall of East Hampton, and Figge Art Museum. Mercedes Matter. 1st ed. New York, N.Y: MB Art Publishing, 2009, p. 38).
