James Bear is also known as James Michael Byrnes. Date based on typewritten label on cassette: Subject, Diebenkorn; Hopps, W. and Byrnes, J.; Tuchman; (13 of 15 cassettes); 5/29, 5/22/76 5/29 is presumed to be date of interview with Hopps, on other side of tape. Bear and an unidentified woman, interviewed by Tuchman, discuss their interactions with Richard Diebenkorn and their impressions of his work. One of several interviews conducted by Tuchman in conjunction with the 1977 exhibit Richard Diebenkorn: Paintings and Drawings, 1943-1976 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
