The theme of the conference was "America's cultural responsiblities in the world today." Speakers include Henry R. Hope, Mrs. Chakaravarti (reel 1), Hans Konrad Roethel (reel 2), Rafael Heliodoro Valle (reel 3), Fiske Kimball, Budd Schulberg (reel 4), Harry F. West (reel 5), Charles Coiner, Ben Shahn (reel 6), P.R. Adams, Antonio A. Micocci (reel 8), Eloise Spaeth (reel 9), Alcen Amaroso Lima (reel 10), William G. Constable (reel 11), and Lloyd Goodrich (reel 12).
Reel 7 contains a discussion among the first four speakers.
Several reels end with unrelated material from classical music radio broadcasts, indicating the tapes were recycled to make these recordings.
