Saarinen describes his skiing vacation to Bassett using sketches with brief captions or notes: first of the journey to the mountains, by train and horse-drawn sleigh; next of skiing; next of a Finnish bath and people asleep in a lodge; last a landscape, a "filmstrip" of his friend Marianne tumbling down the mountainside, and the comically gruesome result of her fall.
Eero Saarinen travel sketches to Florence Knoll Bassett, 1935 or 1936. Florence Knoll Bassett papers, 1932-2000. Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution.
