Letters, printed material, scrapbook, photographs regarding Keene's schooling at Tyler, his years in Paris, the Whitney scholarship, and his exhibition history. Eight letters, including correspondence about Keene's application for the Whitney Fellowship, Mr. Whitney's purchase of a painting, and a letter from Humbert Howard regarding an award and exhibition of Keene's paintings at the Pyramid Club; two painting inventories; four diplomas; a scrapbook containing photographs of Keene as a student, in Paris, and of his exhibition in Haiti; a letter from the Whtiney regarding an exhibition; portraits of Keene; and some printed matter; loose photographs of Keene's paintings, his family, Tyler students, Keene and fellow artists in front of Bob Rosenwald's Gallery Eight (Huit) in Paris, Keene's apartment, friends in Paris and Haiti, and teaching at Philadelphia College of art.

Biography Note:
Painter, art instructor; Philadelphia, Pa. African-American artist Paul Keene received a John J. Whitney fellowship to study and teach in Haiti, 1952-1954. He also taught at Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia College of Art, and Bucks County Community College.
Microfilmed in 1988 as part of AAA's Philadelphia Arts Documentation Project.
