The Archives of American art does not own the original papers. Use is limited to the microfilm copy.
Biographical information, correspondence, 1974-1987, writings, photographs, and printed matter. The writings include typescripts of lectures and articles, written by one of Loper's students, discussing Loper's early life, teaching methods, and his work for the Index of American Design and the Barnes Foundation.

Painter; Wilmington, Del.; Loper worked on the Index of American Design (1936-41) in Wilmington, Del., and studied at the Barnes Foundation. He taught privately and at schools, including the Delaware Art Museum.
These are the only papers Mr. Loper has retained.
