Summary:
Elisabeth Zogbaum's papers regarding Franz Kline.
1991 donation (0.2 linear feet): Inventory of paintings and drawings of Kline's work from the Allan Stone Gallery kept on notecards (photocopies of these) which lists the work, where exhibited, and to whom it was sold; also, a group of cards (A-M) of collectors of Kline's work.
2004 donation (4.7 linear feet): Correspondence, photographs, publications, clippings, books and artifacts.
2010 donation (7.0 linear feet): Biographical material; correspondence; material regarding the Franz Kline estate; materials regarding the Franz Kline Foundation; information regarding stolen works of art; legal records; Zogbaum's writings and presentations on Kline; exhibition files; photographs; audio recordings; and printed material.

Biography Note:
Elisabeth Zogbaum was a close friend and companion of painter Franz Kline. She was married to sculptor Wilfrid Meynell Zogbaum.
Provenance:
The 2004 donation was initially brought to the Archives as a deposit in 1965 by Elisabeth Ross Zogbaum, and microfilmed on reels D206-D207. She donated the Allan Stone Gallery inventory and card file in 1991. In 2004, her son, Rufus Zogbaum, donated the material previously on deposit, and he donated additional papers in 2010. Portions of the printed material were transferred to the vertical files of the Smithsonian American Art Museum Library.
