Smithsonian has a large collection of African Art objects and archival materials. Most of collections are managed in the National Museum of African Art and the Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives. The collections focuse on traditional and contemporary African art and serves for educational mission to teach black cultural heritage. There are curretly more than 3,550 musuem objects and more than 26,790 archival mateirals which include online records of Sculpture, Paintings, Containers, Costumes, Textiles, Tools and equipment, Masks, Furnishings, Armor, Photographs, Postcards and more representing the art, culture and history of Africa. .
