Mr. Quander is the family historian of the historic, African-American Quander family. Their roots in America can be traced back to the 1600s. The family is spread throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Mr. Quander tells the story of the origin of the Quander name and the family’s African roots. He also discusses his family’s role in the Civil War and how they came to settle in southeast Washington, D.C.
