Handwritten account book kept by members of the Lusby family of Maryland. The volume mainly contains arithmetical notes and problems (e.g. converting currencies used by various states; long division; fractions; figuring up loans), and may have been used to teach members of the family or other pupils. Other subjects include a draft of a last will and testament, recipes for various remedies, payment receipts, and references to farm work and commerce. Some of the names that appear in the volume include Benjamin W. Lusby (including the notation, "Benjamin W. Lusby's book"); Eli Lusby; John M. Gaither; David Davis; Isaac Jones; Bradshaw Waters; Alfred Knight; Francis Faithful; and Gideon Sands. The date range for the annotations is based on years mentioned within the volume.
