"Astronomical and meteorological records, and vocabularies of Indian languages," with separate t.p. dated 1822, is bound at the end of v.2 (xcviii p.), and includes a general index to the set.

The atlas includes three maps and plans each printed on double leaves, and eight unnumbered plates on single leaves.
SCNHRB has 4 copies (2 are incomplete, lacking the atlas).
SCNHRB c. 1 (v. 1, 39088002478485; v.2, 39088002478493; formerly F592 .J28 v. 1-2 RB SI) is incomplete: the atlas v. is wanting.
SCNHRB c. 1 has bookplates: 1. Jonathan Dwight; 2. Smithsonian Institution Libraries. Gift of Marcia Brady Tucker. With handwritten pencil collational annotations from the Tucker collection on the preliminary leaves. The blank portion at the top of the title leaf in both volumes has been torn away, presumably to remove old provenance information.
SCNHRB c. 1 has the handwritten ink autograph of a former owner on the t.p.: John Carmichael Jenkins, Phila[delphia], 1833.
SCNHRB c. 1 has later half-leather bindings with embossed burgundy cloth-covered boards, raised bands, gilt-tooled spine, and red sprinkled edges.
SCNHRB c. 2 (v. 1, 39088004427308; v. 2, 39088004427316; formerly F592.J28 v. 1-2 c. 2 RB SI; 508.73 L849) is incomplete: the atlas v. is wanting.
SCNHRB c. 2 has stamps: 1. Library, United States National Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Nov. 29, 1886; 2. Smithsonian Institution; 3. (in red, on final p. of v. 1) Nov. 2, 1854. Accession no. 128711 (both v.). With the ink autograph of S. Harrington[?] on t.p.'s. Four pages of ms. addenda (on 2 sheets of lined blue paper), providing a key to the species of mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and fossils mentioned in the text, is bound in at the front of v. 1.
SCNHRB c. 2 has black buckram library bindings with gilt-lettered spines and gray endpapers.
SCNHRB c. 3 (v.1: 39088013117965; v.2: 39088013118005; atlas: 39088013118047; formerly E78.W5J2 v. 1-2, atlas BAE) has stamp on t.p.: Bureau of American Ethnology Library 1896; accession nos. 6296-6298.
SCNHRB c. 3 has a handwritten ink inscription on the t.p. of v. 2: John T. Norton, Jan[uar]y 1823.
SCNHRB c. 3 has a brown buckram library binding (Heckman Bindery label) with gilt-lettered spine; the atlas has faux marbled endpapers and edges. Approximately 35 blank leaves of paper are bound in as filler at the back of the atlas volume.
SCNHRB c. 4 (v. 1, 39088008441081; v. 2, 39088008441172; atlas, 39088008441123; formerly F592.J28 1822 v. 1-2, atlas SCDIRB) is a made-up copy with text volumes from one provenance source, and the atlas from a different source. Text volumes 1 and 2 have armorial bookplate: J.K. Paulding, with motto: Fidelity. The atlas has two bookplates: 1. Woodstock Library, no. 100; 2. Smithsonian Institution Libraries. The Charlotte and Lloyd Wineland Collection of Native American and Western Exploration Literature.
SCNHRB c. 4 has handwritten inscription on t.p. of v. 1: "Presented to his friend Henry Gage by J.K. Paulding."
SCNHRB c. 4 has both text v. bound in old half-leather over marbled paper boards, with gilt-tooled spine; the atlas v. is bound in the original brown paper boards with beige cloth spine and a printed brown paper label on front cover that reads: Maps and plates for Major Long's expedition to the Rocky Mountains, housed in a later brown cloth slipcase.
