Summary:
Edwin Hamilton Davis, an archaeologist. A memoir cowritten by Davis with Ephraim George Squier, another archaeologist, "Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley," about prehistoric mound builders of North America was included in the first Smithsonian "Contributions to Knowledge" publication, which was printed in 1848.
