Illustration (Fig. 7) of a branching sponge from the Department of Marine Invertebrates, Zoology, in "A Handbook to the National Museum under the direction of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington". The "west hall" in the Smithsonian Institution Building, exhibited one of the finest displays in the world, of sponges, corals, echinoderms, worms and Crustacea.
