Summary:
The stone is incised with the state seal of North Dakota depicting a tree surrounded by a shaft of wheat, with a plow, a bow with three crossed arrows, and an axe and a chopping block on the ground around it. Behind the tree there is a setting sun on the horizon. Above the tree there are forty-four stars in two semicircular bands, and the words: LIBERTY AND UNION NOW AND FOREVER ONE AND INSEPARABLE incised in a band above the stars. An inscription incised in a band around the outer edge of the seal reads: GREAT SEAL. 1889/STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA/OCTOBER 1ST.
