Summary:
This lunette is one of eight along the east end mezzanine that illustrate battle scenes. The view here shows the battle on the morning of Sept. 26, 1918, with troops from the Thirty-fifth Division of Missouri and Kansas in combat against the Germans. In the center, one American is about to throw a grenade, while another aims his rifle, and another uses his bayonet. On the upper left, through the haze and smoke there is a German camouflaged gun firing on the Americans, while in a trench on the lower right, the Germans are surrendering.
