A Civil War soldier stands gripping his rifle with both hands, rifle butt to the ground. The soldier wears a scabbard on his proper left hip. The sculpture is mounted atop a tapered shaft that is adorned with relief depictions of flags and rifles on the front, and incised crossed Confederate flags and a Confederate insignia on the back. The shaft rests along the side of a flat rectangular base that is adorned with blocks on each corner inscribed with the CSA logo. Urns that once rested on top of each corner block are now missing. Small benches extend out from the sides of the shaft.
