Summary:
A uniformed Civil War soldier stands atop a tall, square shaft, holding the barrel of his rifle at chest level with both hands, the stock resting by proper right foot. He has a moustache and goatee, and wears a hat. A bed roll is slung over his proper right shoulder, and he has a small pouch on his rear proper left hip. His proper left foot is forward, extended over the top of the shaft, and the rear of his proper right leg is braced against a short tree stump. The shaft is decorated with reliefs, including a wreath, crossed swords, and the seal of the Confederate States of America. The lower base is multitiered and graduated, with a rough-edged lower tier.
