That this nation under god shall have a new birth of freedom. and that government of the people by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth. Summary:
At the top of a tall obelisk stands a bronze female figure representing Columbia. She holds a flag in her proper right hand and extends a wreath of peace held in her proper left hand. At the base of the obelisk are four bronze male figures representing each branch of the military. An infantryman stands on the southwest corner, a cavalry officer at the northwest corner, an artillery man at the southeast corner, and a sailor at the northeast corner. The monument is installed in the center of a traffic circle.
