Summary:
Five Japanese lantern sculptures, four of which flank the two stairways that lead to Building 108, also known as the Pagoda building. The fifth is in the yard in front of Building 108. Each lantern consist of a square base; a short shaft adorned with raised horizontal bands around the middle and a carved flower, or leaf, motif around the top; a hexagonal collar; a hexagonal lamp chamber adorned with carved face panels; a circular roof; and a finial shaped like a flame. On two of the lanterns, the lamp chamber is adorned with carvings of a bird, a bridge, a wave, and a tree. The lamp chamber on one of the lanterns is adorned with carved geometric patterns. The lantern in the yard is missing its roof and its finial is placed directly on top of the lamp chamber.
