Summary:
The theme of the fountain makes reference to the Kalamazoo incident in the 1830s in which nearby Potawatomi Indians were removed from Kalamazoo and resettled in the Oklahoma Territory. At the fountain's west end, stands a sculpture depicting an armed pioneer in front of a Native American wearing a feathered headdress. Behind the figures, an abstract Kalamazoo landscape is depicted.
