Summary:
A figure of a soldier in the First Virginia Regiment during the French and Indian wars stands in a position of calm alertness, holding his rifle out in front of him. He represents a frontiersman soldier of 1754 wearing a buckskin coat and a coonskin cap. The sculpture is installed atop a tall square base made of granite blocks. Bronze plaques on the base describe the history and service of the Regiment through 7 wars.
