Summary:
Film outtakes from the American University Field Staff "Faces of Change" film series documenting Taiwanese farmers. Film footage documents farming practices, particularly rice; family life; and gender roles. Emphasis is placed on the challenges to their traditional lives by government programs, education, and economic development. The films "Chinese Farm Wife", "People are Many, Fields are Small", "A Rural Cooperative", "They Call Him "Ah Kung"" and "Wet Culture Rice" were produced from this film project. Filmed by Richard Chen and Frank Tsai.
