Folio 9 verso, 2nd photograph; Japanese men and women greet the American president's daughter. The Japanese had recently defeated Russia, and were eager to win Theodore Roosevelt's support for reparations at the Portsmouth Conference. This photo was taken on the 25th of July, 1905.
