Summary:
The History of Science Society Editorial Manuscript Files consist of manuscript articles and reviews submitted for ISIS and OSIRIS publication. Rejected or cancelled ISIS reviews and articles span the years c. 1956 to 1993. Reviews and articles accepted into ISIS span the years c. 1955-1973 and 1979-1991. Some manuscripts are arranged by receipt date and some by issue date. Those arranged by issue date often include extra publication materials, such as front and back matter, notes on contributors, prize announcements, captions, and tables of content. Card indexes of rejected and accepted ISIS manuscripts are extant for the years 1972 to 1980, and log books recording the receipt of manuscripts are extant for the years 1958 to 1992. OSIRIS accepted and rejected articles cover the years c. 1984 to 1988. The HSS Manuscript Files are arranged according to the original accessions of the American Philosophical Society.
