An arm-chair loosely covered with gray-colored drapery and a brown terrier-dog cuddled up upon the seat asleep. This is the brief subject of a small animal painting in oil, entered by Mr. Todd, and painted by Harvey of Chicago. It is a perfect little gem, not only worked out with the utmost force and fidelity as to drawing and coloring, but finished up in an elegant manner. This picture was awarded the second premium; the first being awarded to a vigorous and striking sketch by Troyan, but in every way inchoate and hasty, representing a herd of sheep and some cattle being hurridly driven along a field road.
