Educational Notes:
May 14th, 1999. Mum, I am trying so hard to give Rhea and myself a better and easier life. I remember when I was small, we used to go with you and Nani to the sugarcane fields. That work was so hard. Now it seems like every other person in our family is fighting diabetes, watching how much sugar they eat. That is really something else. The work here is hard, too. Taking care of other people’s houses and children is exhausting. It is a different kind of hard work. I am grateful that that the US dollar is so strong so the money I send back home can help pay for more things. I used to love hearing those stories. You are right. I will tell Rhea some of my stories and bring her to visit more often. She will always know where she comes from. This weekend, I am off from work and will teach her how to make sada roti. Love, Nadia
