Pipe is broken in two pieces. Formerly # ET1849. From T number card: "Ivory pipe with lead bowl. Incised designs filled in with black. Lower half: concentric circles interspersed with diagonal bands of alternate spurs. Top half: pictorial scenes, dancing in kashim, hunting (caribou, walrus, whale, etc.). Illus. in BAE 18th AR, Pl. LXXXIX, no. 4, as incorrect cat. no. 2282. See text p. 284. Apparently never accessioned." Identified in publication as obtained in Kotzebue Sound by Lt. (George M.) Stoney. Publication also notes that a clock wheel is inlaid in the top of the flaring rim of the lead pipe bowl. Pipe is also Illus. in USNM AR for 1895, Pl. 61, facing p. 854.
