IDENTIFIED BY THE DONOR AS AN "EMPRESS DANTSU RUG, HANDMADE, ALL WOOL, 230 KNOTS TO THE INCH." IT IS OF A VERY THICK, HEAVY PILE, MAROON BACKGROUND WITH BANDS OF TAN COLOR & GENERAL FLORAL DESIGN. THIS RUG WAS PRESUMABLY NEW WHEN ACQUIRED IN THE 1940'S.
