From card: "Round, knobbed head with one side slightly carved to represent effigy of human head. Story of the War Club of Medewe Yeshish. Medicine (or Sacred) Sky - Lac Du Flambeau (Wisc.) Chippewa. Medewe Yeshish wished to go to war against the Sioux. He made prayers and sacrifices for success. In a dream he was told to make a war club and make it a certain way. He did so. Later a party of Chippewas went to war against the Sioux. Medewe Yeshish went with them. They camped one night well in the Sioux country. That night the dream came back to him. He arose wondering, then he listened. He thought he heard something. He reached for his club and went in that direction. A man rose out of the grass. It was a Sioux enemy. Medewe Yeshish struck him twice with the club. Killed the Sioux. This was told by John A. Martin, a Lac Du Flambeau Chippewa and grandson of Medewe Yeshish. Club was obtained from John A. Martin.
