BARK CLOTH PAINTED FREEHAND IN A LIGHT REDDISH- TAN WITH BLACK GEOMETRIC DESIGNS OF DIAMONDS AND TRIANGLES DONE IN THREE ROWS, ONE NARROW ONE DOWN THE CENTER AND TWO WIDER ONES DOWN THE BORDERS. THE BORDERS HAVE DARK SOLID CIRCLES WITHIN THE TRIANGULAR FORMS AND THE CENTRAL UNDECORATED PORTION HAS VARIOUS DARKER LINES PAINTED. HAS ORIGINAL PEALE TAG; ALSO OLD SHIPPING LABEL READS, "B[ARREL]L NO 1 TAPA FROM SAMOA NOV 1839 RECD JUNE 18 1840 VIA BOSTON [SHIP]". THERE IS AN OLD CATALOGUE CARD FOR THIS NUMBER DESCRIBING A BOW AND ARROWS. THIS IS IN ERROR AND SHOULD BE CHANGED.
