RECTANGULAR PARFLECHE FLAT BAG OF PAINTED RAWHIDE WITH TANNED SKIN FRINGE ON EACH SIDE, WHICH HAS TWO LOOPS ON THE BACK FOR CARRYING. THE PAINTED DESIGNS ARE DONE IN RED, BLACK AND BLUE-GREEN OVER WHITE HIDE. HAS ORIGINAL PEALE TAG; WRITTEN ON BAG, "EX EX LIEUT WILKES, N.W. COAST BY J.L. FOX EX EX","2618 PLATEAU, R.R. WALDRON." EXHIBITED MAGNIFICENT VOYAGERS, NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY, 1985-86. EXHIBITED DENVER MUSEUM 1965. ORIGINALLY CATALOGUED IN S.I. LEDGER AS A SEAL SKIN POUCH.
