Notes:
Yemanja (water diety) fan made of silver-like metal with cylindrical handle, decorated with flowers and leaves impressed and incised into the body of the fan. A 5 cm circle is cut out of the middle and a mirror is inserted behind the hole, held with a larger peice of medal at the back of the fan by three screws. The fan relates to Candomble practices in Brazil and was given by Phyllis Galembo, an American artist/photographer who has worked extensively with African Diaspora religions in the New World, to Michael Mason in 2002.
