Notes:
Khanga (industrial roller print textile) with lesso design. Printed in red, green, white, and black. Written on it is "Vyema kujifungulia hospitalini" which translates "It is best to deliver in a hospital". The design incorporates green and red flowers and red leaves. This khanga was designed and manufactured by Kaderdina Hajee Essak, Ltd., a textile company in Mombasa, Kenya. Two members of the Kaderdina family, Abdulhamid Muneeb Kaderdina and Mohamed Hussein Abdulkader Kaderdina, were participants in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival Kenya Program in 2014, and they gave this textile to the Smithsonian.
