Description:
Rectangular case with opaque white champleve enamel on the snap-closure, hinged lid featuring a geometric design composed of small squares; engine-turned sides and plain bottom. Tab at center front of lid. Gold washed interior is engraved inside lid "S.D. / 1820" with "CLK" lightly scratched below. Inside lid and bottom are struck with two marks, an effaced maker's mark with raised roman letter "C" and illegible motif in a horizontal diamond or lozenge and a left-facing boar head in conforming surround.
