Description:
Surgical saw with an ebony handle, and a “J. REYNDERS & CO. / NEW YORK” inscription. John Reynders (1834-1910) was a surgical instrument maker from Hanover who came to the United States as a young man. By 1860 he was in partnership with Ferdinand G. Otto, trading as Otto & Reynders in New York City. That venture dissolved in the early 1870s, and the two men went their separate ways. John Reynders & Co. remained in business until around 1900.
