This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860.
Description:
A deed of transfer for enslaved persons named Alexander, Billy, Judah and children Peter and Lucinda, Winney, Nanny and "old man Phil" from Mrs. Apphia Rouzee, executrix of the late Richard Rouzee, to William Webb. The document is signed in the bottom right corner by William Webb and signed in the bottom left corner by witness Robert Hill. The document is handwritten in black ink, with multiple ink drips, smudges, and bleeds.
