Physical Description:
Japanese woodcut print of a street scene with two balloons aloft over the city. American flag in the center of the scene and the Western-style dress suggest this scene is supposed to take place in the United States.
The print may depict the balloon flights witnessed by the Japanese Embassy in Philadelphia on June 14, 1860. The artist, misunderstanding the place and the event, may simply have made a mistake and assumed that the scene took place in Washington.
