Abstract:
The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's collecting mammal and bird specimens in Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, June 19 - September 30, 1893. The entries describe travel and specimen collecting. Descriptions include observations of vegetation (trees and shrubs listed with scientific or common name), terrain, wildlife, specimens collected (type and quantity), habitat, weather, and temperature. Includes tables of specimen data headed with location, listing type and quantity per date. In the end of the notebook is a list of "distances" with location ranges visited. Locations include Pyramid Lake, Wadsworth, Halleck, Nevada; Ogden, Wellsville, Wasatch mountains, Utah; Montpelier Creek, Preuss mountains, Idaho; Wind River mountains, Wyoming.
