Abstract:
The journal documents Florence Bailey's travel and observations of California, beginning in May. It m ay correspond with a second journal of travel in California dated 1907. Entries are usually dated and include observations of vegetation, birds, possibly interactions and observations of local inhabitants, terrain, geological observations in canyons. Beginning entries appear to be recorded while in motion, and are fragmented in construction. There are sketches of plants. Half of the notebook is blank. Locations mentioned include Santa Ana, via Ogden, Cattle Canyon.
