In an exterior garden scene, a figure of a man sits perched on a stool facing a large canvas dressed in a tulip-printed vest with frilled chemise and ascot, yellow trousers and an orange dress coat. At lower right sit his models: a woman in a voluminous floral applique gown and matching bonnet posing with a young girl wearing a green plaid skirt, white chemise, black sweater, and matching feathered hat holding a hoop.
