List covers nine handwritten pages of names and telegram draft is one typewritten page. The typewritten page has a heading: Suggested draft of telegram of invitation to be sent by Mr. Kennedy to the attached list of Americans in the arts, letters and sciences. <br>The telegram expresses the new administration's wish to form a "productive relationship with our writers, artists, composers, philosophers, and scientists" and goes on to invite the recipient to Inaugural functions. <br>List includes writers, poets, painters, composers and choreographers, actors, museum directors, educators, librarians, architects and scientists. <br>Date based on Kennedy's inauguration, which occurred on January 20th, 1961. List would have been drafted some time between the election in November of 1960 and inauguration day.
