Summary:
The scattered papers of painter and printmaker Dorothy Stewart measure 0.4 linear feet and date from 1930 to 1957. Papers primarily consist of artwork and sketches including five self-published booklets of Stewart's blockprints, five sketchbooks, and two pencil sketches. Also found are photographs of works of art and printed material.

Biography Note:
Dorothy Newkirk Stewart (1891-1955) was a painter, printer, and printmaker in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Stewart studied at the Pennsylvania Fine Arts Academy. Dorothy and her sister Margretta settled in New Mexico where they took over a printing press and published Stewart's block prints.
