This poem first appeared in "Actions and Reactions" published in October 1909.
General note:
Holograph copy, signed by Kipling. M076a is accession number in the Russell E. Train inventory list of the Joseph F. Cullman 3rd Library of Natural History. It was Kipling who recommended the artist Edmund Caldwell to Sir Percy Fitzpatrick for his book Jock of the Bushveld.
